El Colorado

From the first impression many people think "well that's it huh" Yet as with any good resort the best parts are often a little hidden from the untrained eye. Yes, looking up at El Colorado from the base one may think well it's just a bunch of straight runs that drop off the top of that volcano looking peak. There certainly is that. This is what attracts ski teams from all over the world. That come here to practise banging gates. Relatively steep long sustained pitches. Put a powder day on these same runs and you're having a fine time.

It's what's hidden around the fringes of El Colorado that makes this place plenty worth a visit. To those that know, the mention of Cono Este and Sta. Theres brings smiles, and fond memories of deep snows and gnarly lines. Almost every type of line you can imagine, (well except tree runs. there's none of those here) but yes there are open powder fields, cliffs, rocks, chutes, couloirs, big drops, little drops, double and triple drops. Enough lines for several seasons of non stop exploration. Don't judge the book by its cover never ran truer when it comes to what El Colorado has to offer. Match that with the mellow vibe yet vibrant local scene and you have a great place to ride. Spend a little time at the happy hour in El Parador at the end of a days shred and you'll know what I mean.
